This Easter holidays BALTIC is continuing to connect with local communities through Art Lab - an ongoing programme offering artist-led activities and meals throughout the school holidays. BALTIC worked together with artist Isabella Carreras to create fun, tasty and creative packages. More than 500 packages have been distributed to families across Birtley and Deckham, Gateshead.
Family health and wellbeing is an important ongoing part of Art Lab. The packages included nutritious, high quality fruit and vegetables, long-life food and store cupboard essentials alongside fun meal ideas. These food packages allowed families time and space to create, make, share and eat nutritious and delicious food together.
Alongside this, BALTIC artist Isabella Carreras designed and delivered a set of printed activities with materials provided for making and online workshops. 32 online artist-led workshops were delivered over Zoom, with internet data top ups available for anyone without access.
Art Lab activities are always underpinned by ideas of radical ecology and climate action and explore how we can make changes to our own everyday behaviours to benefit the people, animals and environment around us. This holiday, activities have included recycling, foraging, planting and building new habitats. You can download a copy of our latest Art Lab activities here.
