For Adults
From delving deep into an artist’s work, getting insights into an exhibition or flexing your creative muscles, we’ve got things that might be just the ticket.
Each day, three informal exhibition tours take place at Baltic.
Join one of these for free and discover some top insights about the art on display. These are casual friendly tours so feel free to ask any questions you’ve got along the way. There’s also tours on our history, the local area, our building and in the summer months, our resident Kittiwakes. If the tour timings don’t work for your visit, then Baltic Crew are on every floor of the building, and only too happy to chat about the art, and help you on your visit.
Pop into Baltic Library where there are over 13,000 books on art, artists, design and visual culture.
This reference-library is a great way to get lost in images, read up or help your personal study.
Want to hear from artists themselves and the curators here at Baltic that create the exhibitions?
Book onto one of our Talks or Events that delve a little deeper into the processes and practices of artists.
Pick up a monthly creative worksheet
At the beginning of each month, our lovely on-site residents Foundation Press will share a ‘Brief Opportunity’; a worksheet for you to take and enjoy at your own leisure. Printed copies will be available to pick up in Baltic from January or you can download a digital version.
Watch or listen to a whole collection of videos and audio recordings made by Baltic about our exhibitions and the artists behind them.
The Baltic Bites series puts the artist front and centre so their voice and intentions are revealed. Missed a talk or event that you could not get to? Watch it on demand. Browse the collection and hit play at BalticPlus.uk.
If you’re interested in creating self-publishing art and zines then we have several opportunities throughout the year to join artist-led zine-making workshops.
There’s also chances to contribute to printed publications responding to themes in Baltic’s exhibitions.
We work in partnership with Northumbria University
Together we develop research and thinking into artistic practice and themes affecting our communities, individuals and artists. Look out for events and sessions in this strand here.
