Celebration Event We all came here from somewhere
Please join us for an afternoon of celebration to mark the penultimate weekend of We all came here from somewhere, including food, song, and activities.
Saturday 1 February | 14:00-17:00
Level 2 Learning Lounge
Free, booking advised
The afternoon will begin with a concert, showcasing Kanvee and Aslan, both singers and musicians seeking sanctuary in the North East of England after being forced to flee their home country, followed by activities inspired by the Together With Refugees' orange heart campaign.
There will be guided tours around part of the exhibition - Asylum: A Long and Painful Process - by asylum seekers and refugees at the heart of the story. Their portraits for the exhibition were taken by international photographer Sadia Sikandar, herself a refugee from Pakistan.
A short film about the UK asylum system will also be shown.
