Join Amy Trainor for a workshop sewing your very own colourful kimono jacket.

A blue kimono style jacket with a diamond pattern hands from a wooden shelf.

On this full-day workshop using a computerised sewing machine, you will create your own stylish and colourful kimono.

This session will be hosted by Amy Trainor, designer and maker of Kaleidoscope Textiles - a sustainable bag and accessory fashion brand. Amy works with bright, high-quality fabric and materials to create bags and accessories that stand out from the crowd.

What's included in the session?

Under Amy’s guidance you will learn how to do the following:

  1. Thread a machine and wind a bobbin on a computerised machine
  2. Lay out fabric accurately and cut out a kimono pattern according to your measurements, as well as including all relevant notches and tailor’s tacks
  3. Sew kimono pattern pieces together
  4. Incorporate French seams into the garment for a professional finish
  5. Top stitch bias binding to the raw edge of the kimono

The workshop is suitable for beginners who have some experience working on a sewing machine, as well as those who have prior sewing/dress-making experience. It's a great opportunity to meet new people, develop your sewing/dressmaking skills as well as creating a stylish, cool kimono!
