Join artist Ayo Akingbade, exhibiting Show Me The World Mister in our Level 2 Gallery, for a conversation with writer Daisy Lafarge and screening of Aki Kauismäki’s influential film The Match Factory Girl (1990). In the film, Iris has a dead-end job in a match-factory, lives with her unforgiving parents, and her social life is a disaster. When she is made pregnant after a one-night stand by a man who thought she was a prostitute, she decides that enough is enough and plans her revenge. Akingbade and Lafarge will discuss the film in relation to their respective practices.
