Happy Mart Pop-up Shop

Happy Mart pop-up shop, in Baltic’s Ground Floor, is a collaboration between textile artist Bianco Perry and ceramicist Alex Sickling. 

Bringing together a playful mix of gifts and handmade decorative pieces for the home, their work is inspired by finding humour in the everyday, being out in nature, hugging the dog and eating a Greggs together. 

New work will be added by both artists throughout the duration of the show, Perry is creating hand stitched banners inspired by the important things in lifeand things we love most, including 'Climbing Mountains', 'The North Sea' and 'A Dog’s Kiss'. 

Alex Sickling will be creating a limited edition run of ceramic witches for Halloween and a range of handmade Christmas decorations and mini coals for anyone misbehaving for Christmas. Alongside the seasonal editions there will be permanent pieces from Sickling including ceramic worms, silly cat sculptures, and mugs declaring how much you love your best friend. There will also be Happy Mart merch available including a branded tote bag and stickers, with hopes to expand the product range later in the run. 

As well as the pop-up shop both artists will be hosting textile and ceramics workshops, which encourage participants to explore their creative skills and the opportunity to meet like-minded folk. Crafting enthusiast or an absolute beginner? Everyone is welcome at Happy Mart.
