Young Producers
Baltic Young Producers are a group of young people who work with our staff and artists over one academic year to plan and deliver an event or commission.
Meet our Young Producers
Young Producers are a collective of young artists, producers and leaders who create commissions, events, and workshops at Baltic. Their aim is to “make something that matters.”
In 2024, with the support of artist, Bex Harvey, Young Producers developed a project based around ecological practice, nature, the environment, and climate change as part of Baltic’s Climate Action National Lottery Funded project: Birds, Bees, Bikes and Trees. Together, they explored the relationship between nature and art and how they complement each other, raising the important question: “How can we protect the planet in the process of making art?”.
In response to this, Young Producers produced a new commission for Baltic's Lightbox, a publication, a film in two parts and a workshop delivered to others.

Chloe W
"I'm a Young Producer because I want to have an impact, to create change in the world, and this group allows me to do that, even if it is on a relatively small scale for me that is fulfilling enough for now and I hope that this group will help me go further with my desire to create change in the future.
I've been a Young Producer since I was 12! (Feb/Mar 2021) 4 years and still going strong making me currently the oldest member of the group in terms of when we joined."
Grace
"I came to Young Producers because I like safe, calm and kind environments where I can meet new people. We get the opportunity to do things we wouldn’t be able to do is school or at home, such as having our own exhibition where our work can be displayed and seen by a large audience. Having such a different atmosphere from school means we are taught new things. I have learned new techniques I had never heard of before, such as Riso printing, which have been useful for University. I have learned more about the art world through the Baltic and Young Producers than during school.
Fun fact – I have been coming to groups provided by the Baltic since 2018 and have been a part of Young Producers since 2021."
Lucy
"I go to young producers because it's an enjoyable and accessible way to explore different types of art, meet artists, make statements through our work, and talk to other creatively-driven people my age. I have a love for needle felting and embroidery."
Lara
"I came to Young Producers to have the opportunity to produce and display artwork alongside creative, like-minded people. Working on projects also makes me feel as if my practice has a wider, positive impact. My fun fact is that I play both guitar and piano."
Chloe C
"I love Young Producers because it's a way to connect with like minded people and we get offered opportunities that i wouldn’t be able to do without this group. A fun fact about me is that I have been on TV for art before."
Zuzanna
"Why I come to young producers: A great way to be involved with the arts, where we have unique opportunities to work with professionals and produce work that has a tangible impact. It is all experience that will be useful in further study and a career in the creative field. And of course, meeting some wonderful people with similar interests.
Fun fact: born on a Friday 13th."
Sophie
"I came to Young Producers because it gives me a chance to put work out into the world and show off what I can do when I work with others.
