Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is a major international gallery situated on the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead, England. Having welcomed over 10 million visitors since opening in July 2002, Baltic presents a distinctive and ambitious world-class visual art programme. Housed in a landmark ex-industrial building, Baltic houses 2,600 square metres of art space, making it one of Europe’s largest galleries. Baltic has presented the work of over 850 artists of 78 nationalities in over 300 exhibitions to date. Baltic is supported by Arts Council England, Gateshead Council and Northumbria University.

Baltic are recruiting a Senior Technician to join our team. Set in an architecturally stunning building in Gateshead, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is the UK’s largest non-collecting contemporary art institution. Baltic delivers 8 to 10 free exhibitions across four gallery floors, alongside extensive learning and civic engagement programmes in our fully accessible building. Working under direction of the Technical Manager, the Senior Technician plays an important role in the realisation of our exhibitions and creative programmes.
Reports to: Technician Manager
Salary: £28,754 - £31,000 per annum (dependant on experience)
Contract duration: Full time, permanent
Working hours: 37 hours per week
Place of Work: Baltic, South Shore Road, Gateshead
Annual leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays pro rata

As an organisation that values listening, we want to hear your thoughts and opinions on Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. We are inviting our visitors to join a group called Baltic Voices who will come together twice a year to share their thoughts and insight on Baltic’s exhibitions, events, building, spaces and activities.
It’s an opportunity to play a role in the feedback we receive and consider when deciding our future exhibitions, activities and use of space. No specialist art knowledge is required – we want to hear about what you think about what we offer through our exhibitions and events, and what makes Baltic meaningful and relevant to you.
