Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is a major international gallery situated on the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead, England. Having welcomed over 9 million visitors since opening in July 2002, Baltic presents a distinctive and ambitious world-class visual art programme. Housed in a landmark ex-industrial building, Baltic houses 2,600 square metres of art space, making it one of Europe’s largest galleries. Baltic has presented the work of over 850 artists of 78 nationalities in over 300 exhibitions to date. Baltic is supported by Arts Council England, Gateshead Council and Northumbria University.

Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art has exhibited the work of over 500 different international artists and has welcomed over 9 million visitors since opening in 2002. Baltic is housed in the former Rank Hovis Flour Mill built in 1950. Ellis Williams Architects, London oversaw the redevelopment into BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
The internal floor area covers 9979m² including a shop, café, rooftop restaurant, library, archive, viewing terraces alongside four galleries and performance and event spaces.
We are recruiting for a Facilities Technician, with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience to work as part of the Facilities Team within this iconic North East building.
This role will involve ensuring Baltic is maintained and operated to a high standard, including support for events, exhibitions and activities in the building and off-site as required.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience of mechanical and electrical systems and have knowledge of modern building management systems. You will have good communication skills and a real commitment to customer service.
This position involves working on a rota basis including weekends, evenings & bank holidays.
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Salary: £26,342 per annum
Contract duration: Permanent
Working hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Place of Work: Your usual place of work will be Baltic, South Shore Road, Gateshead.
Annual leave: You will be entitled to 25 days paid annual leave plus standard bank holidays.

Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is seeking a passionate and experienced Young People’s Producer to join our Learning Team who will help shape our vision for youth led programming over the next 12 months. This role comes at an exciting time for Baltic, as we develop new strategies to address inequity for young people within education and in the creative sector unlocking creativity as a skill in all areas of life. The role is initially recruited as fixed term, with ambition to extend.
You will lead on delivering our current youth programmes: Baltic Young Producers, a collective of young people who lead and create and deliver exhibitions, workshops and events at Baltic, and ArtMix, weekly artist-led workshops to inspire the next generation of creatives in the North East. You will also initiate new programming strands for young people aged 13-19, build effective relationships with a range of partners to make a transformational impact on the lives of young people through engaging with contemporary art and creative culture.
Reports to: Learning Team Lead
Pay: £27,436.00 per annum
Working hours: 30 hours per week. We offer a flexi-time scheme.
