Baltic is seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees Working closely with the CEO, Board and executive team, our new Chair will help lead Baltic's next phase— protecting artistic ambition while strengthening Baltic’s civic role, financial resilience and regional impact. They will provide strategic leadership and champion our mission.
The new Chair will bring strategic leadership, strong communication and influencing skills, sound judgement and a commitment to Baltic's mission and values. They will help the organisation navigate a changing cultural landscape, champion artistic excellence and public value, support long-term financial resilience and strengthen relationships with partners, funders, communities and policymakers regionally and nationally. The Chair leads the board in setting and reviewing Baltic's strategic direction, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interests of the charity and those it serves.

Our Living Wage commitment means everyone working at Baltic, in roles with hourly pay, receive a minimum hourly wage of £13.45 in the UK, higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £12.71 per hour.
Baltic is based in the North East, the region with the highest proportion of below real Living Wage jobs in the UK (18.8%), with over 191,000 jobs paying less than the real Living Wage. Despite this, Baltic has committed to pay the real Living Wage and provide a decent standard of living for all their workers. The Living Wage Foundation’s real Living Wage remains the only UK wage rate independently calculated based on the cost of living, rising annually based on living costs.
