As part of our Summer Block Party, we're teaming up with The Glasshouse to bring a Tish Murtha x Sam Fender experience to Gateshead riverside. Beginning with a listening experience and ending with a curator's tour, with North East cuisine along the way.

The Glasshouse kick things off with an intimate listen to the Mercury Prize winning People Watching. Songs that feel close to home - full of sharp observations, big feelings, and familiar lives. With Geordie tapas on the side, bringing a taste of the North East to the table.
Then you're invited to make your way along the river to experience our new exhibition on its opening day, Tish Murtha & Kuba Ryniewicz: Close to Home. Here curators Niomi Fairweather and Rose McMurray pull you deeper into Murtha’s world - the back lanes, the faces, the fights, the futures. And the unexpected journey her images took, ending up on Fender’s artwork and carrying her voice into new generations.
This event connects two artists across time - a photographer who showed us who we are, and a musician who helps us hear it.
