Screening as part of Baltic Cinema’s Quayside Kino strand — fantastic films for families as part of Balitc's Big Family Summer.

Grow is a heartwarming (and slightly chaotic) tale of pumpkins, sabotage, and unexpected family ties. When a tough-as-nails farmer takes in her rebellious niece, Charlie, she doesn’t expect her to shake up the town - or enter the fiercely competitive local pumpkin contest. But with a genetically engineered super-pumpkin, shady sabotage, and a town full of eccentric growers, Charlie’s got her work cut out for her. As she raises her pumpkin ‘Peter’ from seed to superstar, she might just grow something even bigger: a new life, a community… and maybe a little love.

Eight people sat in the cinema looking at the screen.

Baltic Cinema

Baltic Cinema is a year-round cinema programme at Baltic, lighting up our Level 1 Cinema with the best new and archive films. Bringing otherwise rarely-screened work to the North East, Baltic Cinema also expands our exhibitions, offering a chance to explore further some of the themes they raise.

Baltic Cinema has five strands:

Sources expands on our exhibitions

Selected shows films selected by our artists and partners

Quayside Kino is a monthly screening for families and children

News From Home offers films on and from the North East, for the people who live here
