There’s a warm welcome at Baltic this winter.
The cost-of-living crisis in the UK is resulting in unprecedented pressures on many this winter. Along with our Quayside neighbour Sage Gateshead, we’re offering warm spaces to our local community, no questions asked, in the harsh winter months ahead.
With no pressure to move on, we want to make sure you know you are welcome at Baltic. You can access free Wi-Fi, charging points, and pay-as-you-feel tea and coffee, or squash/water in our Front Room, Ground Floor. Own food and packed lunches can be eaten here, and there are snacks and traybakes on sale too.
Enjoy a book, get some study or work done or pause during a visit to the rest of the building. We're open Wednesday - Sunday, 10am-6pm.
There’s also our Library, Sensory Room and Learning Lounge on Level 2, alongside a set of new exhibitions open from Saturday 22 October 2022 to try out and experience as part of your visit.
Offering free entry to the building, low cost or donation only refreshments, and areas for work and play, the Warm Spaces initiative is made up of venues, libraries, town halls, sports clubs and community centres across Gateshead. Members of the local community will be greeted with a warm welcome and treated with dignity and respect in a non-judgemental environment.
The Warm Spaces Network is operating across Gateshead and eligible buildings are encouraged to join the directory.
