Indian Classical Dance Performance | Madhura Godbole: Emergence
Baltic is collaborating with GemArts to host a special performance of Indian Classical Dance responding to the work in Chitra Ganesh’s exhibition.
Madhura Godbole: Emergence
14 Nov | 15:00-16:00 Free/drop-in
Accomplished Kathak dancer and choreographer Madhura Godbole brings her exceptional artistry to a special performance responding directly to Chitra Ganesh’s powerful new work in Journey to the Great Below.
Rooted in the storytelling traditions of North India, Kathak is known for its intricate footwork, expressive gesture, and rhythmic virtuosity. Madhura draws on these qualities to create a vivid, contemporary dialogue with Ganesh’s exploration of one of the world’s earliest recorded myths – The Descent of Inanna.
As Ganesh’s work offers a potent metaphor for navigating dark and challenging times with courage and hope, Madhura’s performance adds a resonant new layer, especially meaningful in the week of Diwali, a festival that celebrates light emerging from darkness.
