Bird flying over Quayside river with Gateshead millenium bridge and Baltic in the background,

Discover the world's first tilting bridge in an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience. This tour offers a unique glimpse into the innovative engineering and history of the North East’s iconic landmark, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Your journey begins at Baltic, where our Crew will guide you on a personal tour where you will find out more about the local sights and enjoy extraordinary Quayside views from Baltic’s viewing areas. You’ll then depart across Baltic Square to the Millennium Bridge to meet the Bridge staff and visit the hydraulic control rooms to see first-hand the tilting process ahead of your own 12:00 bridge tilt. You’ll discover facts about the River Tyne and the bridges that span it, the history and regeneration of the area, and how the Quayside has changed over the years.

Please be aware that unfortunately there is no step free access in the Bridge Control Station leading down to the control rooms. However, the tilt control button and tannoy system are fully accessible.

Following the Tour and Tilt complimentary tea and coffee are available in our Front Room.
