Getting to Baltic
Baltic is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10:00-18:00.
Free entry, donations encouraged.
Baltic is a registered charity.
We're situated on the Quayside in Gateshead, a 10-15 minute walk from Gateshead Town Centre, or a 15-20 min walk from Newcastle city centre for Newcastle train station. Baltic is accessible for pedestrians from the Newcastle Quayside over the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Opening Times
We're open Wednesday - Sunday, 10:00-18:00.
We are always closed on Mondays & Tuesdays including Bank Holiday Mondays.

Travelling to Baltic
We encourage sustainable travel to Baltic, whether travelling by roller-skates, bus or bicycle. Take advantage of lower cost travel on the Metro where kids 11 and under can travel free with a paying adult. By bus, grab Go North East's Family Day Tickets or £1 fares for under-21s.
Bike to Baltic
Make Baltic part of your cycling adventure. Stop by to use our facilities and enjoy a complimentary refreshment in our Front Room before continuing your journey. Gateshead cycle map can be downloaded here.
Baltic is easily accessible by bicycle via South Shore Road and the iconic Gateshead Millennium Bridge on National Cycle Route 14 along Gateshead Quayside. You'll find free bike racks located on Baltic Square near our main entrance.
You can also bring your bike on Metro trains between certain stations during off-peak hours: Monday-Friday 10:00-15:00 and 19:00 until service ends, plus all day weekends. Please note that bikes aren't allowed in city centre sections between Gateshead Stadium-Jesmond and St James-Manors.
We offer secure lockers for just £1 to store your bags and coats while you visit. Lockers are cleared at 17:55 daily, so items can't be left overnight.
Travel by Bus
Gateshead Bus Interchange or Newcastle Central Station are our closest bus stations. You can plan your visit to Baltic by bus here, and find out about Go North East’s Family Day Ticket, £1 tickets for under 21s, and full ticket range here.
The Voltra 53 & Voltra 54 buses run every 12 minutes during the day. Buses start from both Gateshead Interchange and Newcastle Central Station. Find out more about the Voltra 53 service here. Find out more about the Voltra 54 service here.
Our coach drop-off point is next to Baltic on South Shore Road.
Travel by Taxi
Accessible taxis are available locally through Dean's Taxis. They can be contacted on 0191 444 4444, or ask at our Hello Desk where Baltic staff will be happy to book this for you.
