What happens when artists play with an idea? Join artist and teacher Christine Egan-Fowler for a promenade style performance in Play Rebellion.

Something magical happens when we are given permission to play. One Metre provides a provocation for Egan-Fowler and her students. Hear their stories of playful approaches to this idea. Moving around the gallery space, visitors are invited to share their own experiences of play and playful approaches to ideas generation.

“I embrace the power of play every day; it informs, sustains and inspires me.”

In this workshop, join Alison Stenning for a series of playful mapping exercises, encouraging reflection on spaces of play in the past and present. Participants are invited to draw from their sensory memories of childhood play, using this as a spring board to consider how play might animate our environments and facilitate important relationships on, and with, our streets.

Play Lab - A playful exploration of gender & play

FREE Booking essential

Adults are invited to step into the Play Lab where we'll be tinkering with toys, making up games and discussing what's happened to the way we play. This play intervention will be hands-on and will have you testing your conker skills, leapfrogging and asking Mr Wolf what time is it? We'll examine styles of play, where these ideas come from and looking at why aggressive marketing is changing the play landscape.

Programmed as part of MAPS Festival.

A Playful Protest!
Wed 19 Feb 10.00-18.00
FREE Drop-in

Families are invited to join us for a day of Playful Protest; we'll be taking lines for walks, building forts, balancing on walls, and wiggling on our bellies. Through a series of artist led and self-led activities, we'll be exploring what happens when we play, all day. Be prepared to make your own rules, take risks, question power relationships and above all, have a great time!

Programmed as part of MAPS Festival.

Many of the Playing Up programme events will be documented and available to watch on balticplus.uk
