ESOL Conversation Sessions, delivered in partnership with Gateshead Resettlement Team, gives ESOL learners an opportunity to practice their English and enjoy meeting and chatting with BALTIC staff and local volunteers. Connect, talk, share and learn online, through a series of weekly conversation sessions.
As well as chatting about particular topics or hobbies of interest to you, we’d love to hear about your food memories, recipes and food histories. Your stories, photos and reflections will be collected into a living archive and shared collectively when we reopen. These sessions are suitable for Entry Level 1+.
Conversations take place throughout the week via Zoom, and we can work with you to find a suitable date and time. If you’d like to practice your English speaking with friendly native speakers and (virtually) meet new people, all you need to do is:
- Register your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
- Download the Zoom app on your phone or laptop
- Book your place on one of the conversation sessions by emailing email@example.com
- On the day of the conversation, you will receive an invite to join the session
- Please accept this invitation, and start your conversation
If you have any questions, or would like assistance in downloading Zoom, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or if you’re unable to download Zoom, but would like to chat, please get in touch and we can discuss other options, such as phone conversations and WhatsApp video calls.
ESOL Conversation Sessions are part of Neighbourly, a programme which works with refugee support groups across the North East to connect with refugees and people seeking asylum. Neighbourly aims to bring people together through social and professional networks; provide opportunities to build and apply creative, life and employability skills; and support people to feel confident, happy and fulfilled in their lives in the North East.
