Wed 23 & Thu 24 Oct 2019, 10.00-18.00

FREE Drop-in

You’re invited to BALTIC Family Days, two free days of creativity and play for you and your family. Come together to explore making, sculpture and large-scale drawing with artist Emma Cousin, and consider how we care for one another and ourselves and what might be possible when we support each other and work together. For families with children of all ages and abilities.

BALTIC Family Days includes the following free activities:

Meet & Make: The Garden
Grow a garden with community group The Comfrey Project as they transform BALTIC's Ground Floor into a living garden with paper plants and colourful collages. Watch the garden evolve across two days as botanical artworks are created and added with the help of you and your family.

Wonder & Wander: Joy Labinjo
11.00 & 15.00, both days
Join a member of BALTIC's Learning team for a Wonder and Wander tour of artist Joy Labinjo’s exhibition where you and your toddler can explore themes of care and connection through sensory materials, movement and sound.

Toddler Time & Relaxation Room
Head to the Relaxation Room; a space of care for you and your baby. This is a dedicated space for under 5’s to explore art and play with colours, texture and shapes. Sit back and enjoy complimentary herbal tea and a hand massage, provided by volunteers at The Comfrey Project, between 11.00-15.00.

Collaborative Drawing
Join artist Emma Cousin to contribute to a large-scale collaborative drawing that covers the walls of the Learning Lounge, exploring what connects us and how we support one another.

Collaborative Sculpture
Join artist Tim Spooner and add a miniature sculpture to a growing installation, made from found objects.

Film Screening: Small Animals
Visit BALTIC’s cinema and watch a programme of artist’s films specially selected for children featuring animals. Drop-in anytime across both days.

Sensory Room
Chill out in the Sensory Room in Launch Pad, Level 2, for a quiet space to play and explore sensory toys, projections, sounds and materials.

Picnic Area Relax in the Picnic Area where you and your family can eat your packed lunch, enjoy a free drink and pick up our special Family Day lunch box offer.
