This performance of music and poetry was commissioned for the project Poetry Despite, Music Despite, Aaron Hughes’ presentation for BALTIC Artists’ Award.
The performance includes a re-imagining of Wilfred Owen’s poetry and Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem by special guests including GemArts and Karim Wasfi, cellist and former conductor of the Iraqi National Orchestra, delivering a live response to Hughes’ large-scale works in the exhibition.
