Begins early August
Continues throughout the summer
Take part in a playfully disruptive programme of games, workshops and activities designed by BALTIC Young Programmers, a diverse group of 13-15 year olds.
Ella Hoggarth, Maria Kajrowicz, Callum McCready, Isabel Lou, Lilly Mckinnon, Cecilia Neri, Betsy Reed, Naomi Sayal, Isobel Shield and Chloe Warnock are a group of 13-15 year olds from Gateshead and South Tyneside. In January 2021, in the midst of the second national lockdown, they formed BALTIC Young Programmers to plan and deliver a commission that would reflect some of their experiences over the past year and celebrate young people as makers, producers and leaders.
Rainbow’s End is the culmination of a collaboration between BALTIC Young Programmers, artist Zoe Allen and game designer Adam Dixon. It asks us to playfully explore our own lockdown journeys, negotiate conflicting information and consider to what extent we should follow the rules and which we might break along the way.
This work has been funded by Virgin Money Foundation and is part of #iwill, a UK-wide campaign aiming to get more young people involved in social action projects to improve their communities. The Virgin Money Foundation #iwill Take Action Fund is a joint investment from Big Lottery Fund and Virgin Money Foundation.
