This exhibition is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. You can drop-in for free anytime during our opening hours.

  • You will find this gallery on the Third Floor
  • As you approach this exhibition, you will encounter a large green painted wall with the title of this exhibition 'Stepping Softly on the Earth' and alongside it, dates and sponsors of the exhibition
  • On the right wall, there are exhibitions credits and information about supporters of this exhibition
  • On the left wall there is a screen which plays videos about the artists
  • Please be aware this exhibition contains flashing lights

  • As you enter the exhibition doorway you will encounter artworks of various materials and heights
  • There are paintings, photography, sculptures, structures, and screens
  • The screens will be playing videos which you can watch with headphones
  • Please be aware that the video work Takuma Kuikuro: The Day the Moon Menstruated Nguné Elü (2004) contains a section documenting an indigenous, sacrificial ritual that some visitors may find difficult to view.  
  • In the middle of the room there are benches you can sit on

  • Near the back of the room there is a water sculpture that makes continuous quiet noise
  • There are benches around the water sculpture that gently vibrate when you sit on them
  • There is a screen in a small room that plays a video out loud
  • There is a screen on the back wall that plays a video out loud

  • You can travel around the exhibition in any direction
  • In some sections, there will be description text on the wall
  • There are beans and legumes in this exhibition, please be aware of any allergies  
  • There will be a Baltic Crew member in the gallery, they are there to help and assist you with any questions
