This exhibition is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. You can drop-in for free anytime during our opening hours.

  • As you approach this exhibition on the Second Floor, you will encounter a large wall text with the title of this exhibition, The Vasseur BALTIC Artists' Award 2022.

  • As you enter the gallery, the lighting will appear bright.

  • To the left it will appear to be an empty space, and to the right, there is a tall wooden sculpture.

  • This exhibition is by three artists, and is split into four rooms.

  • The artists are Ima-Abasi Okon, Laleh Khorramian and Fernando García-Dory.

  • There will be a BALTIC Crew member standing in the gallery, they are there to help and assist you.


  • You can travel around the exhibition in any direction.

  • The first two rooms on the left (clockwise) are by artist Ima-Abasi Okon.

  • The first room contains information on the walls about the artist.

  • The second room has a large speaker. This is playing an edited track which is very loud.

  • This sound may start abruptly. You may feel the floor vibrate.

  • You can see the inner workings of the speaker. Please do not touch the artworks.


  • At the back of the gallery are brightly colourful hanging fabrics and lights.

  • This is artwork by Laleh Khorramian.

  • There is information on the wall about the artist.

  • Towards the rear of the gallery there is a darker area, with dark a carpet and walls.

  • Here there are benches. Feel free to sit.

  • On the back wall there is an artwork placed upon a window. If there are birds or differing weather, you may see slight movement.

  • The room to the right when entering the gallery is by artist Fernando García-Dory.

  • It includes large wooden frames that are displaying a range of products including pickles, ceramics and wool.

  • Please do not touch these items.

  • There is information on the wall about the artist and the artwork.

  • There are benches. Feel free to use them.

  • Take care when moving around this space. Be aware of items hanging from the ceiling and also on the floor.


  • Please do not touch the artworks.

  • There will be a BALTIC Crew member standing in the gallery, they are there to help and assist you.

  • Once you are ready to leave this gallery, head back and exit the same way you entered.
