OPEN CALL: Contributions to a new printed publication S.P.A.M. Spreads #2
This is an open call to contribute visual or written work to a new issue of S.P.A.M. Spreads. Issue #2 will explore the politics and future of food production in relation to the climate emergency. It will look at ideas around hospitality, commensality and sharing and preserving cultures, stories and biodiversity through recipes and seeds.
Issue 2 will act as a companion reader to BALTIC’s B.US, a group exhibition which will tour from Gateshead and its surrounding area all the way to the Northumberland border, connecting urban, rural and remote communities with contemporary art.
Visitors can see the exhibition What's for Tea? featuring work by Cooking Sections, Kara Chin, Isabella Carreras, Julia Heslop, David Lisser, Future Farmers and Asunción Molinos Gordo. Every visitor to the exhibition will leave with a copy of S.P.A.M Spreads #2.
We invite visual artists, writers, self-publishers, zine-makers, activists, collectives and community groups, to contribute new or existing work on the themes outlined above.
