As you approach this exhibition on the Second Floor, you will encounter a large wall text with the title of this exhibition Mounira Al Solh: A day is as long as a year.
As you enter the gallery, there is both typed and handwritten text on the walls.
This exhibition explores migration, memory, trauma, loss and displacement of people triggered by war and oppression.
There is text and translations on the walls that provide more information. There are also translations available on artwork labels and with BALTIC Crew.
There will be a BALTIC Crew member standing in the gallery, they are there to help and assist you with any questions.
As you enter the exhibition, there is a red tent in the centre of the room.
There are fabric artworks on the walls and hung from the ceiling.
To the left there are also some smaller drawings, behind a glass cabinet.
You can travel in any direction around the exhibition.
Inside the red tent, the lighting will be dark.
In the centre, there are hanging fabrics. These describe stories and have bright spotlights on them.
There is an intermittent recording of speech and singing that starts abruptly.
As visitors travel around the gallery, the fabrics may sway and move slightly.
Please do not touch the artworks.
There will be a BALTIC Crew member standing in the gallery, they are there to help and assist you.
Once you are ready to leave this gallery, head back and exit the same way you entered.
