Thu 25 Feb 17.00-18.30
Suitable for EYFS practitioners and all teachers working with SEND pupils.
This online CPD will introduce various creative activities exploring colour, texture volume and shape.
Part of BALTIC Stars Online, a programme for SEND teachers and home educators.
If someone else saw the practical activities in this CPD, they may think it is just about making a lot of mess. And it’s true, the activities we'll be exploring in this online CPD are messy ones, but there’s a lot more to it. It’s all about using our senses and playing.
Led by artist BALTIC Freelance artist Zoë Allen, you will explore materials, colour, texture, volume and shape in a way that is free from the constraints of ‘making a picture’ or producing ‘artwork’. You will also be encouraged to think about what and how we learn when we play with different materials, including:
How can we use different vocabulary and sounds as we describe what we can see, feel, touch and hear.
The different materials artists can use and the alternative ways you can use them.
Gesture, motion and movement as part of a meditative, artistic process.
Feel free to bring along a messy material that you might want to crunch, squelch, splat or throw on some paper – protective covering and clothing is advised!
This event will take place on Zoom. Attendees will receive a link to this session 48 hours before the event takes place. You can read a quick guide to getting started with Zoom here.
BALTIC's online artist led sessions are aimed at teachers across all Key Stages and are designed to provide you with ideas to take back to your classroom or education setting. In this series, BALTIC's Freelance Artist team will deliver online CPD sessions for teachers to learn new skills around contemporary art practise for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
