In collaboration with BALTIC, Grand Union, Birmingham present a second edition of their project Ways of Learning. Following on from the Ways of Learning programme in Birmingham in 2018, this is a reconfiguration of the project to engage BALTIC 39 as a site for learning, providing a context for a programme of events, artworks and communal sharing of knowledge. Ways of Learning draws from feminisms, generational alliances and indigenous knowledges, as well as forms of solidarity and allegiance which intersect with queer culture.
The gallery will host a working and learning environment designed and built by Birmingham-based architecture practice Intervention Architecture. The space will be open for anyone to use and share. There will be seating with a work space, Wi-Fi and tea and coffee available throughout the project.
Ways of Learning, Grand Union, 2018 was programmed by Grand Union staff (Kim McAleese, Seán Elder, Jo Capper) together with Curator in Residence Lucy Lopez, and exhibited works by Uriel Orlow, Alex Martinis Roe and Mujeres Públicas along with an extended public programme involving Huw Lemmey, Sean Burns, Kirsty Clarke, Cathy Wade, Juliet Jacques, Cooking Sections and Burning House Books.
