This workshop will consider “the mountain top” and utopia futures through a group reading and discussion of selected works, including MLK's 1963 speech I Have Been to the Mountaintop. sorryyoufeeluncomfortable (SYFU) will lead participants in a collective re-reading of chosen excerpts.

What can we gain from rewriting our own revolutionary visions? This creative writing workshop will guide participants through various exercises to produce writing that explores the contemporary relevance of MLK's mountaintop and themes of utopias, futurism and revolution.

About SYFU

sorryyoufeeluncomfortable is a collective of thinkers and makers. Formed out of the Baldwin's Nigger Reloaded Project, initiated by artist Barby Asante and curator Teresa Cisneros in 2014, sorryyoufeelunfortable (SYFU) has since presented work at ICA, 198 CAL, Wellcome Collection, Tate Exchange, The Showroom and Iniva in London, as well as Nottingham Contemporary (Nottingham), KVS (Brussels) and Framer Framed (Amsterdam). Their upcoming residency at Glasgow International Festival 2018, (BUT) WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT WHITE SUPREMACY? will take place in collaboration with Many Studios at The Gallow Gate (Glasgow).
